Ending the Silence Available at Local Schools: This is a NAMI National Signature Program intended for middle school and high school aged students. NAMI NWS has had the honor of presenting this program in several local area high schools for the past 8 years. The program has received exceptionally positive reviews from faculty and students.
The focus of the presentation is to make students aware of the need to talk about mental health issues as early as possible in their recognition of symptoms in themselves or in their family or friends. The program includes two presenters with lived experience with mental illness. One of the speakers is a young adult who shares his or her experience with the students, thus students are made aware that mental illness is more common and treatable. A video presentation accompanies the presentation.
This no cost program is available to all middle and high school classes. If you would like to receive more information on how to bring this program to a school in the Northwest Suburbs, please email NAMI NWS at .
NAMI IL Convention: More details to follow.
